Convention Cup
The Convention Cup is the prized victor’s glory! Throughout Convention, a points-based intervarsity challenge is held to bring out the competitive nature of medical students by encouraging all delegates to immerse themselves in Convention activities. Delegates earn points through academic participation, sponsor interaction, and much more. Universities will battle head-to-head, with each striving for the honour of raising the Convention Cup and securing their place in history by etching their name onto the Convention trophy.
Workshops
Places in our tailored workshop, which emphasise hands-on teaching, are highly sought after by all delegates. These practical, immersive sessions provide valuable upskilling opportunities, covering essential skills such as suturing, plastering, and resource utilisation in a hospital setting. The interactive nature of these workshops makes them a unique and useful opportunity cherished by all participants.
Field Trips
Field trips offer an exclusive opportunity for a select number of delegates to explore the very best that Sydney has to offer. Positions are highly sought after, with destinations ranging from iconic tourist attractions to points of professional interest, such as cutting-edge research facilities.
Emergency Medical Challenge
The Emergency Medical Challenge (EMC) is one of the thrilling and prestigious competitions held during the Convention. Each university selects a team of their most adept and quick-minded delegates to compete in a myriad of professionally-designed emergency scenarios in high pressure environments, with their patient management being marked by an overseeing practitioner.
The EMC unfolds throughout Days 4/5, culminating in a highly anticipated finale between the two highest-performing teams being held on the main plenary stage with props, actors and audience engagement alike. The final showdown will captivate the audience on the Convention's closing day. With the involvement of local doctors, nurses, and paramedics, the EMC stands out as a unique medical educational event, offering an unparalleled experience for both participants and spectators alike.
Con Games
Prepare yourself for an extraordinary day at the AMSA 2025 National Convention's Con Games in Sydney! This event is designed to offer a dynamic break from the academic sessions, combining sports and emergency medicine challenges into a day filled with excitement and camaraderie. Our dedicated Con Games team has crafted a lineup of activities that will push your limits and deepen the bonds of friendship formed throughout the week. Join your university delegation to compete in a range of sports, from basketball to chess, and participate in engaging challenges that appeal to diverse interests.
One of the standout features of the Con Games is the prestigious Emergency Medical Challenge, the largest emergency simulation event in the nation. This competition is your chance to showcase your clinical expertise and practical skills in medicine. Teams will face a series of intricate medical scenarios, with the top performers advancing to an intense final round. The grand finale, held on the convention's last day, will see the best teams vie for the title of champions in a spectacular showdown.
Show your university spirit in full force with creative costumes, whether it's themed outfits, mascots, or innovative designs. Each activity during the Con Games contributes points towards the esteemed Convention Cup, awarded to the university delegation with the highest score at the Closing Ceremony. To keep you energised, our Logistics team has ensured that delicious meals will be available throughout the day. Socials
The National Convention's social nights offer delegates the chance to unwind, mingle and explore the vibrant nightlife of Sydney. Our dedicated SYD25 Socials Team have curated five themed evenings at some of Sydney's most glamorous venues, promising a creative atmosphere where dazzling costumes are encouraged.
As the convention week progresses, excitement builds towards the grand finale: the prestigious Gala Ball. This elegant event marks the pinnacle of SYD25, providing delegates with a luxurious setting to enjoy a sumptuous three-course meal, complimentary drinks, and plenty of dancing. It's an ideal occasion to dress to impress, reconnect with old friends, and make new ones.
While ensuring everyone has a fantastic time is a priority, the SYD25 team places utmost importance on safety. The Risk & Welfare team remains vigilant throughout the conference, ensuring delegates' security and well-being during all social activities.
